Kano NDC Governorship Candidate Picks Kwankwaso’s Son as Running Mate

Former Deputy Governor of Kano State and governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has named Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election in the state.

Mustapha, the son of former Kano State Governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, previously served as Kano State Commissioner for Youth and Sports.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Habibu Saleh Me Lemo, and circulated on a WhatsApp platform monitored by journalists.

According to the statement, Gwarzo formally unveiled Mustapha as the party’s deputy governorship candidate as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections continue to gather momentum in Kano State.

During his tenure as commissioner, Mustapha spearheaded several youth empowerment initiatives and sports development programs under the Kano State Government.

The development comes amid growing political realignments and intensified consultations among key stakeholders ahead of the next governorship contest in Kano State.
