The Kano State Fire Service has disclosed that it responded to 80 emergency calls across the state in May 2026, including fire outbreaks, rescue operations, and false alarm incidents.
The Director of the Service, Sani Anas, said the emergency responses were carried out through the agency’s 30 fire stations spread across the 44 local government areas of Kano State between 1 and 31 May 2026.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the spokesperson, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the Service recorded a total of 58 fire incidents, 15 rescue operations, and seven false alarm calls during the period under review.
The agency reported that 13 people lost their lives in various incidents, including fire outbreaks, road accidents, and accidents involving ponds and wells.
However, 34 lives were successfully rescued through prompt emergency interventions.
On property losses, the Service estimated that assets worth N144.01 million were destroyed by fire and related incidents, while properties valued at approximately N437.03 million were saved from damage.
The Service urged residents to observe fire safety regulations and exercise caution when handling fire-related activities to reduce fire disasters across the state.
The Director of the Service reaffirmed Kano State Fire Service’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property through rapid emergency response, public enlightenment campaigns, and preventive safety measures.
