Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has commended the state Ministry of Transport, Pilgrims Welfare Board, and Officials of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, for ensuring the successful airlift of intending pilgrims from the State to Saudi Arabia.
The farmer governor through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, noted that the stakeholders including the intending Pilgrims were all remarkable, leading to the successful airlift to Saudi Arabia for the religious obligation.
He said the success attained so far demonstrate the level of partnership, proper management, hard work, commitment and dedication displayed by both the state government, Pilgrims Welfare Board and other critical stakeholders.
The farmer governor applauded the 2026 State’s Amirul Hajj, the Emir of Agaie, Alh. Yusuf Nuhu, Security agencies, medical team, travel agency and the airline staff as well as the airport officials for working assidiously for the smooth airlift of the intending pilgrims.
He assured that his administration will continue to improve on its policies and reforms that would ensure seamless Hajj process for intending pilgrims in the State.
The farmer governor reiterated his call on all the intending pilgrims across the 25 local government areas to be of good conduct throughout their pilgrimage.
He also emphasised the need for the pilgrims to offer fervent prayers for a peace and tranquility in the state in particular and Nigeria as a whole.
2,281 intending pilgrims across the 25 local government areas of the State were airlifted to Saudi Arabia from the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna, in six scheduled flights which commenced on 11 May 2026 and ended on 17 May 2026.
