The Federal Government has approved a contract of N59.4 billion for the construction of the Greater Dutse Water Supply Project in Jigawa State to Jidadu Ventures Limited.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Professor Joseph Utsev, during a briefing after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting chaired by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday.
The project aims to provide safe and clean water to people of the Dutse Local Government of the state.
The minister added that the council has also approved N18.9 billion for the rehabilitation of the Buruku/Gboko Water Supply Project in Benue State to Ceylon Construction Services Limited.
On the issue of dam collapses, Prof. Utsev disclosed that a committee was set up by the ministry to assess the dams across the country.
According to him, the committee is currently on the field assessing the condition of all the dams, in order to restore their integrity and prevent future flooding.
