Yusuf Says Investment in Education to Drive ‘Kano First’ Agenda

… As 110 foreign scholars receive postgraduate certificates

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has disclosed that investments in foreign and local postgraduate scholarships are designed to ensure that students’ academic growth translates into rapid development for the state, in line with the ‘Kano First’ agenda.

The Governor’s spokesperson, Mustapha Muhammed, in a statement on Tuesday, said Governor Yusuf made the statement during the presentation of Certificates to 110 Beneficiaries of Foreign Postgraduate students held at Government House, Kano.

The statement quoted the Governor saying: “Our goal is simple: to ensure that the investment made in you translates into real development for our state, in line with our ‘Kano First’ agenda.

“This government remains committed to supporting you and creating job opportunities where your skills would be utilised.”

He added that “today is a very special day for Kano State. It is a day of pride, joy, and fulfilment for all of us.

“We are gathered here to celebrate 110 of our sons and daughters who left home and travelled to Sharda University in India some time ago with hope in their hearts and have now returned with knowledge, experience, and success.

Governor Yusuf expressed satisfaction that the students have completed their postgraduate studies in various fields such as Engineering, Pharmacist, Sciences, ICT and advanced technology.

He warned the recipients that the knowledge they acquired is not meant to remain on paper, directing them that “It must be applied to solve problems, improve systems, and make life better for our people.

The Governor commended the parents and families of the graduates for their unwavering support and encouragement, which contributed to this remarkable achievement, and promised that the program would be sustained.

In their votes of thanks, one of the parents, Hajiya Zuwaira Sanusi and two foreign scholars, Yusuf Muhammad and Hauwa Muhammad expressed gratitude to Governor Yusuf for reforming their lives positively.

They prayed to God Almighty to give Governor Yusuf another chance to lead the state so that many sons from poor families can secure opportunities for his foreign Scholarship program.

While appreciating the governor’s Scholarship scheme, the students presented a book they have written on him ‘A journey of gratitude and discovery’ as well and award for his giant strides in education development.

In his remarks, Secretary to the State Government, Umar Farouk, said Governor Yusuf was happy with the book written on him and promised to publish 2,000 copies for distribution to Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and the centre of learning.

Earlier, Commissioner of Education, Ali Haruna Makoda revealed that the current administration has resolved all the previous administration’s outstanding payments regarding to foreign Scholarship.
