As part of the continuous efforts of the Kano State Task Force on Mobilization of Voters Registration, towards achieving its mandate,
a six-day mega Voter Registration centre, has been launched on Wednesday at the Kofar Mata Indoor Sports Complex, with 20 designated units set up at the center to accommodate the large number of registrants.
The Chairman of the Kano State Task Force on Continuous Voter Registration, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, who officially flagged off the exercise, expressed satisfaction with the impressive turnout of residents eager to participate in the exercise
Comrade Waiya, who also serves as the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, emphasized the importance of the exercise, describing voter registration as a fundamental civic responsibility necessary for strengthening democracy.
He commended the commitment of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for supporting initiatives aimed at deepening democratic participation in the state.
According to him, the task force has put in place effective mechanisms to ensure mass participation across all communities.
“You can only choose your preferred leader through the ballot, and that is only possible by possessing a voter card,” Comrade Waiya stated, urging eligible residents to take advantage of the opportunity.
Also speaking, the Kano Resident Electoral Commissioner, Ambassador Abdu A. Zango, who led a delegation of officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to monitor the exercise, expressed satisfaction with the pace and organization of the process.
Zango assured the public of INEC’s commitment to ensuring a smooth, transparent, and credible registration exercise throughout the state
The exercise is expected to last for six days from 1st April to 6th April, 2026, from 9am to 3pm daily
