Kano State Government has announced the successful rescue of the Administrative Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Council, Hamza Durya, following his abduction from his residence in Durya village.
In a swift, coordinated operation, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), Kano State Command, secured his release and arrested two suspected kidnappers, who sustained gunshot wounds during the encounter.
Kano State Commissioner of Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, in a statement on Wednesday, described the development as a breakthrough and commended the DSS and other security agencies for their professionalism and prompt response, noting that the success reflects the effectiveness of ongoing security strategies across the state.
Comrade Waiya also praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for providing the necessary support and resources to enhance the operational capacity of security agencies.
Reassuring residents of the government’s commitment to peace and safety, the Commissioner urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, emphasizing that community cooperation is key to strengthening security across Kano State.
