Kano State Government has announced plans to begin the renovation and restoration of the Digital Industrial Park which suffered extensive damage and looting during the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest on August 1, 2024.
The State Deputy Governor, Aminu Gwarzo, made the disclosure on Monday during the visit of the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijjani.
Gwarzo condemned the vandalism, calling it a setback to the state’s digital development and to Nigeria’s broader technological aspirations.
He extended the government’s sympathies to the Ministry, assuring that measures were being taken to renovate the place.
He noted that security agencies, with the support of local community leaders, have recovered a significant portion of the stolen equipment.
Gwarzo further revealed that Governor Yusuf has directed the Kano State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to carry out a comprehensive assessment of the damage and initiate repairs promptly.
“We are committed to ensuring that this crucial facility is fully operational again as soon as possible”
“The initiative seeks to return the facility to its full functionality, emphasizing the state’s dedication to building a thriving digital economy,” he said
