The General Manager (GM) of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA), Prince Dr. Ifalade Oyekan, has said that Lagos State is fully prepared for the establishment of state police, noting that the state’s current security structure is capable of supporting the transition.

Speaking in a recent interview with journalists, Oyekan described the agency as a pioneer of community policing in Nigeria and said it is strategically positioned to evolve into a state security apparatus once the legal framework for state police is enacted.

He explained that the LNSA has undergone extensive restructuring and re-engineering in recent years to meet modern security demands, adopting a proactive, technology-driven, and intelligence-based approach to safety across the state.

According to him, the agency’s corps officers are trained not only to respond to incidents but also to anticipate, prevent, and mitigate potential security threats before they occur.

Oyekan, who was recently reappointed for a second five-year term by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthening grassroots security across the state.

He added that under Governor Sanwo-Olu’s leadership, the agency and its corps arm would continue to develop into a modern, efficient, and responsive security institution capable of supporting the vision of a safer Lagos.
