The operatives of Ekiti State Security Network, popularly known as Amotekun corps have arrested five suspected fleeing bandits in the state.
The suspects were arrested in Okemesi-Ekiti, Ekiti West Local Government Area of the state after dropping off from a vehicle who conveyed them to the area.
Speaking with journalists, the communications officer of Ekiti Amotekun, Abiodun Adeleye explained noted that the arrest was made possible through a credible tip of my residents of the area.
He revealed that after immediate profiling of the suspects, incriminating weapons such as two locally-made guns, one axe, one dagger, two dogs, five cell phones and assorted charms were recovered from them.
He gave the details of the suspects as 28-year-Old Abdulahi , Ibrahim-25 , Adamu-25, Umar-31 and Yahaya-28.
The Amotekun spokesman added that the suspects claimed to be farmers from Jigawa and Kaduna states, but couldn’t provide more convincing explanations on their mission in the state.
He said, ” Upon interrogation by the arresting Officers of the town, their leader, Suleiman alongside others purported themselves to be farmers , who hail from Kaduna and Jigawa State, of which, no concrete evidence was proven for convincing.
“The suspects, with the exhibits recovered from them, have since been handed over to The Ekiti West Police Command for further investigation and necessary action.”
He reiterated the commitment of the Amotekun corps under the commandant of Brig. Gen. Olu Adewa(retd) to ward off criminal elements from the state and ensure security of lives and property.
