Kano State Government has announced Sunday, 1 March 2026, as the commencement date for the Eid al-Fitr holiday for all public and private primary and post-primary schools across the state.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Kano State Ministry of Education, Musbahu Aminu Yakasai, the date aligns with the approved 2025/2026 academic calendar, which indicates that the second term will end on Saturday, 28 February 2026.
The government directed that all day and boarding schools in the state proceed on the fasting/Sallah break from March 1.
Parents and guardians of pupils and students in boarding schools have been urged to convey their wards home by the early hours of Friday, 27 February 2026.
The statement further clarified that boarding school pupils and students are to resume on Sunday, 22 March 2026, while day students are expected to resume on Monday, 23 March 2026.
It added that the second term will start on Sunday, 22 March 2026, and conclude on Saturday, 18 April 2026.
All public and private schools have been directed to comply strictly with the resumption schedule, warning that non-compliance would be treated as a breach of the state government’s directive.
The Commissioner for Education, Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, called on parents and guardians to ensure full adherence to the approved resumption dates.
He expressed appreciation to parents, guardians, and residents of the state for their continued cooperation and support to the ministry, and wished pupils and students a successful completion of the Ramadan fast and a peaceful Sallah celebration.
