The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has predicted a mix of sunshine and cloud cover across the country from Tuesday to Thursday, with chances of thunderstorms and light rainfall in some areas.

According to NiMET’s latest weather outlook released in Abuja, the agency said Tuesday will be mostly sunny in the northern parts of Nigeria throughout the day.

The North Central region is expected to see light cloud cover with hazy conditions, while parts of southern Kwara may record isolated thunderstorms later in the day.

For the southern states on Tuesday, NiMet said skies will be mostly sunny with few clouds.

However, thunderstorms with light rain may occur in the afternoon and evening across Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Edo, Ekiti, Ondo, Imo, Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Rivers.

On Wednesday, sunny weather is expected to continue in the northern region.

The North Central zone will have a mix of clouds and haze, while isolated thunderstorms with light rain may develop in parts of southern Kogi, southern Benue and Kwara as the day progresses.

Southern states are also expected to experience sunny conditions with light cloud cover on Wednesday.

Thunderstorms and light rainfall may affect areas such as Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Edo, Ekiti, Ondo, Imo, Abia, Anambra, Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Rivers.

Looking ahead to Thursday, the agency said the northern region will remain sunny, with a few clouds and a low chance of isolated thunderstorms in parts of Kwara during the morning.

In the southern region, sunny skies with patches of clouds are expected, while Bayelsa and Cross River may experience isolated thunderstorms with light rain in the afternoon and evening.

NiMet also warned that dust particles are currently suspended in the air, advising members of the public to take safety steps, especially people living with asthma or other breathing conditions.

The agency urged motorists to be careful when driving during rainfall and advised airline operators to obtain location-based weather reports for proper planning.

Residents were encouraged to stay updated by following regular weather reports released by the agency.
