Musa Na Allah, Sokoto

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State has launched the electronic registration of its members as part of strategic preparations for the party’s 2026 primaries and the 2027 general elections.

The decision was reached at a meeting of the Sokoto State APC Executive Council held on Thursday at the party Secretariat Diplomat area Sokoto, where the leadership approved the statewide rollout of the exercise in line with the party’s national reform agenda.

State APC Chairman, Hon. Isa Sadiq Achida, who presided over the meeting, said party executives have been trained on the e-registration process, while computer experts and enumerators have been deployed to ensure a transparent and hitch free exercise across the state.

According to Achida, the initiative will provide the party with a credible and verifiable database of its members, strengthen internal democracy and enhance planning before and after the primaries and general elections.

In a symbolic flag off, the APC registered former Governor of Sokoto State and party leader, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko alongside other party executives.

The state Deputy Governor Eng. Idris Muhammad Gobir, the minister of labour and productivity Muhammadu Mai Gari Dingyadi, the Minister of state for Works Barrister Muhammad Bello Goronyo and Ambassador Kulu Haruna Abubakar also registered as card carrying members of the APC in the state.

Speaking after the registration, Senator Wamakko commended the state executive council for its loyalty and commitment to party growth, urging the people of Sokoto State to embrace the APC for its people centred policies and programmes.

He noted that the party continues to gain strength nationwide due to increasing defections from opposition parties, particularly the PDP, adding that the e-registration exercise would accurately reflect the APC’s growing membership in the state.

Party officials said trained registration officers and enumerators have been secured to ensure all members are captured, describing the exercise as a critical step towards credible primaries and electoral success in 2027.
