The Fiscal Discipline and Development Advocacy Centre (FIDAC) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Honourable Aminu Sa’ad Ungwaggo, a member of the 10th Kano State House of Assembly who represented Ungwaggo Constituency, describing his death as a profound loss to the legislature and the people of Kano State.

In a statement made available to Stallion Times on Sunday, FIDAC Executive Director, Dr.Abdussalam Muhammad Kani, said the late lawmaker was an outstanding parliamentarian of rare depth and character, widely admired for his principled leadership, eloquence, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of his constituents.

Throughout his tenure in the Assembly, Hon. Ungwaggo was noted for his legislative competence and consistent advocacy for the rights and interests of the people, which he pursued with clarity, courage, and conviction.

FIDAC noted that the deceased lawmaker enjoyed respect across party lines, earning a reputation for discipline, punctuality and integrity.

According to FIDAC, Hon. Ungwaggo was a lawmaker whose words could be trusted, measured in promise and firm in delivery, a quality that endeared him to colleagues within and beyond the Kano State House of Assembly.

Before his election into the House, Hon. Ungwaggo served in several public service capacities, including as Interim Local Government Chairman, Chief Personnel Officer and Director of Personnel Management.

FIDAC said these roles equipped him with a strong understanding of grassroots realities and shaped his people-centred approach to governance.

As Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, the late lawmaker was credited with bringing intellectual rigour, fiscal discipline and administrative precision to legislative oversight, while championing prudent management of public resources.

FIDAC further highlighted Hon. Ungwaggo’s visible impact at the grassroots, noting that he sponsored and supported key projects and motions, including the renovation of Taijjani Hashim Bridge at Kofar Ruwa, construction of Dorawar Yan Kifi Road in Rijiyar Zaki, establishment of a Senior Secondary School (Boys) at Tudun Fulani, Ungogo, and the construction of several critical roads across the Gayawa and Rimin Kebe axis.

He also sponsored motions condemning the destruction of the Rimin Zakara community by Bayero University Kano and the relocation of the state-owned psychiatric hospital to Chiromawa Village.

Beyond legislative debates, Hon. Ungwaggo represented the Kano State House of Assembly at high-level conferences, capacity-building programs, and institutional exchanges within Nigeria and abroad, thereby enhancing the Assembly’s visibility and strengthening legislative practice.

Describing him as a beacon of principled leadership and a champion of accountable, people-centred governance, FIDAC called on the Kano State Government to immortalize the late lawmaker by renaming the Dorawar Yan Kifi Road in Rijiyar Zaki after him, in recognition of his instrumental role in its construction.

FIDAC urged the government and people of Kano to celebrate the life and legacy of Hon. Aminu Sa’ad Ungwaggo, noting that Kano State has lost a rare lawmaker whose contributions will be deeply missed.

It prayed for the repose of his soul.
