The Resource Centre for Human Rights and Civic Education (CHRICED) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of two members of the Kano State House of Assembly, Honourable Sarki Aliyu Daneji and Honourable Aminu Sa’adu, describing their deaths as a monumental loss to Kano State and Nigeria’s democratic community.

Hon. Daneji represented Kano Municipal, while Hon. Sa’adu served as the lawmaker for Ungogo Local Government Area.

In a condolence message addressed to the Honourable Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, CHRICED’s Executive Director, Dr. Ibrahim M. Zikirullahi, extended heartfelt sympathies to the Kano State House of Assembly, the families of the deceased lawmakers, their constituents, and the entire people of Kano State.

According to CHRICED, their sudden demise has left a painful void, not only within their constituencies but across the state’s legislative and governance landscape.

It described both lawmakers as exemplary public servants whose dedication, humility, and unwavering commitment to public welfare distinguished their years of service.

CHRICED particularly highlighted the late Hon. Sa’adu’s pivotal role in the passage of the Kano State Free Maternal and Child Health Law in 2023, noting that the legislation remains a lasting legacy that will continue to save lives for generations.

CHRICED noted that the contributions of the two lawmakers to legislative development, community upliftment, and the strengthening of democratic governance are firmly etched in the history of the Kano State House of Assembly.

While acknowledging that words may not fully capture the depth of the loss, CHRICED stated that it finds solace in the purposeful and impactful lives lived by the late lawmakers, whose legacies will endure through the positive changes they championed and the lives they touched.

The organisation prayed for comfort and strength for their families, colleagues, staff, and constituents, and asked Almighty Allah to grant the departed eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus.

CHRICED also reaffirmed its solidarity with the Speaker and members of the Kano State House of Assembly during what it described as a difficult and painful period for the state.
