Sokoto State Government has confirmed that an airstrike was carried out by the Nigerian military in collaboration with the United States Government in Tangaza Local Government Area, with no civilian casualties recorded.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Sokoto, Abubakar Bawa, and made available to journalists in the state capital on Friday.

According to the statement, the full impact of the airstrike could not be immediately determined, as authorities are awaiting the outcome of an assessment by the Joint Operations team.

The statement also addressed reports of objects found near Jabo town in Tambuwal Local Government Area, noting that the circumstances surrounding the discovery could not be immediately explained, pending the conclusion of analysis by Nigeria–US military authorities.

It, however, stressed that no civilian casualties were recorded in Jabo as well.

The Sokoto State Government welcomed collaboration between Nigeria and relevant global partners aimed at curbing terrorism and cross-border crimes in the state, noting that the ongoing operations are focused on securing the state and protecting lives and property.

The statement further highlighted that over the past two years, the state government has consistently supported security agencies in the fight against banditry and terrorism by providing critical equipment to enhance safety across the state.

The government called on residents of affected areas to continue cooperating with both the federal and state governments by providing useful information to security agencies to sustain ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace and security.

It also urged citizens to continue praying for divine support for security agencies in their efforts to defeat criminal elements in the state and the country at large
