Kano, Katsina Communities to Strengthen Ties for Improved Security, Economic Growth

Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has reaffirmed the commitment of the ministry to deepen cooperation between Katsina State indigenes residing in Kano and the people of Kano State, with the aim of enhancing security and promoting sustainable economic development across the two states.

Comrade Waiya made the declaration when he received a delegation of Katsina State indigenes living in Kano who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

He emphasized that the relationship between the people of Kano and Katsina has always been rooted in history, mutual respect, and shared cultural values, noting that this longstanding bond has continued to serve as a foundation for peace and progress.

The Commissioner highlighted that the Ministry of Information plays a vital role in connecting the government with members of the public, enabling the development of strategic policies and public sensitization campaigns that address emerging societal challenges.

He added that the ministry will continue to use its platforms to promote community engagement, foster unity, and provide avenues for collective problem-solving.

Comrade Waiya assured the delegation of the Kano State Government full support in their efforts towards improving security and strengthen economic activities within Kano and Katsina, as well as across the country.

He commended the group for their contribution to peacebuilding, cooperation, and the promotion of prosperity between the two neighbouring states.

Speaking during the visit, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of Katsina State Indigenes Residents in Kano, Dr. Rabi’u Musa Yar’adua, and the Acting Chairman of the Association, Professor Aminu Kado Kurfi, explained that their mission was to explore practical steps for enhancing safety and security, particularly in the border areas where recent challenges have raised concerns.

They also noted that improving economic opportunities remains a priority for the overall well-being of citizens of both states.

The leaders further assured the Commissioner of their readiness to support government initiatives, including offering constructive advisory that will foster unity, good governance, and development.

They added that the community has the numerical capacity to mobilize up to 400,000 votes in the forthcoming general elections to strengthen the government’s success.
