The Permanent Secretary of the State House, Mr. Temitope Peter Fashedemi, has urged staff to recommit to professionalism, integrity, and efficiency as the government intensifies reforms within the Federal Civil Service.
Fashedemi made the call in Abuja after signing a Performance Contract with Directors of various State House departments during the closing session of a three-day 2025 Management and Ministerial Performance Management System (MPMS) Retreat.
The retreat, themed “Building a Responsive and High-Performance Workforce Through Innovation and Teamwork,” was organised to strengthen institutional effectiveness and align State House operations with national public service reforms.
Speaking to journalists, the Permanent Secretary said the contract is more than a formal exercise, describing it as a “binding commitment” that spells out roles, expectations, and measurable targets for all directorates.
He noted that the initiative is part of wider civil service reforms designed to boost accountability, productivity, and clarity of responsibilities across all staff levels.
“What we have done in the last couple of days is sensitise and train staff to understand what the Performance Management System entails,” he explained. “It is not designed to make work difficult, but to make responsibilities clearer and ensure everyone knows what is expected of them.”
Fashedemi added that each evaluation cycle will involve joint reviews by staff and supervisors to measure achievements against agreed tasks and identify areas for improvement.
He said the signed contract represents a pledge to uphold accountability and support the President’s drive for a more efficient and responsive public service.
The retreat ended with renewed commitments from directors and staff to strengthen teamwork, innovation, and service delivery in line with modern public sector standards.
