The Kano State Special Advisers’ Forum (KSAF) has passed a vote of confidence in Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and officially endorsed him for a second term in office, praising his transformational leadership, people-centered policies, and unwavering commitment to transparency and accountability, social justice, and inclusive governance style.

The endorsement was announced on Tuesday in a press briefing held at the Kano Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre.

The Forum, which comprises all Special Advisers serving in the present administration, spoke through its Chairman, Comrade Baffa Sani Gaya, and Secretary, Dr. Idris Salisu Rogo.

According to the Forum, Governor Yusuf’s administration has recorded significant strides across multiple sectors since he assumed office in May 2023, laying a strong foundation for sustainable development and social inclusion in the state.

“Since assuming office, Governor Yusuf has consistently demonstrated an unyielding commitment to good governance, fiscal prudence, transparency, inclusivity, and social justice.

“The remarkable achievements recorded in education, health, infrastructure, and civil service reforms are clear evidence of his compassionate, competent, and capable leadership,” Gaya said.

The Forum particularly praised the Governor’s public financial reforms, which have enhanced efficiency and accountability in government operations.

Among these, it highlighted the introduction of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) system across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), aimed at blocking financial leakages, which has improved the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) through automation and enhanced auditing processes.

The Forum also applauded the timely payment of workers’ salaries and pensions, as well as the settlement of over N28 billion in outstanding gratuities and death benefits owed to retirees, a move described as “a landmark achievement in social welfare and labour relations.”

In the education sector, Governor Yusuf’s administration was credited with recruiting 3,866 new teachers and confirming 5,634 BESDA facilitators to permanent and pensionable status.

Sponsored 1,001 first-class graduates for overseas postgraduate studies and settled outstanding tuition fees for Kano State students who graduated from Near East University, Cyprus (2015 to 2019).

Disbursed over N1.42 billion for the registration fees of Kano indigent students attending federal institutions and 50% waivers for students at state-owned tertiary institutions.

The government has also embarked on the construction and renovation of classrooms, and the provision of essential furniture and learning materials across the 484 wards in the state, demonstrating a clear commitment to revitalizing basic education.

On healthcare, the Forum commended the establishment of Diphtheria Treatment Centres, the creation of the Kano State Centre for Disease Control (KNCDC), and the launch of the ‘Abba-Care Scheme’, which provides free leprosy treatment and other essential healthcare services for vulnerable citizens.

Solarization of pediatric hospitals, cold rooms, and primary health care facilities, and the recruitment of 210 medical officers, 36 house officers, and 38 consultants.

The acquisition and deployment of 14 ambulances to support healthcare delivery across 14 zones in the state.

The Forum also noted major interventions in infrastructure and urban development, road rehabilitation, and environmental sanitation, and the empowerment of women and youth through skills acquisition and entrepreneurship programs.

“Given these verifiable achievements across all sectors, the Special Advisers’ Forum unanimously passes a Vote of Confidence on His Excellency.

“His leadership has proven to be transformational, inclusive, and visionary.

“We remain resolute in our support for his developmental agenda and our collective commitment to serving the people of Kano State.”

Reaffirming their loyalty and solidarity, the Forum declared its unanimous endorsement of Governor Yusuf for a second term, urging the people of Kano to sustain their support for the administration’s ongoing reforms aimed at restoring the state’s glory and improving citizens’ welfare.

“As we continue to witness and count the successes of His Excellency, we proudly and unequivocally endorse Abba Kabir Yusuf for a second term as Governor of Kano State,” the Forum concluded.
