Former First Lady of Ghana, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, has died at the Ridge Hospital at the age of 76.
Family sources say she passed away on Thursday.
Nana Konadu, wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, was a prominent political figure and a leading advocate for women’s empowerment.
She served as First Lady from 1979 to 2001 and in 2016 became the first woman to contest the presidency in Ghana’s history.
Tributes are pouring in from across Ghana and around the world as the nation mourns one of its most influential women.
