Police to Begin Nationwide Enforcement of Tinted Glass Permit

The Nigeria Police Force has announced that full enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit (TGP) will commence nationwide on Thursday, 2 October 2025.

The directive, issued by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, was relayed through the Zone One Headquarters in Kano on Wednesday, with a specific call to residents of Kano and Jigawa states to take note.

Under the Motor Vehicle Prohibition Act of 2004, operating a vehicle with tinted glass without an approved permit is prohibited.

According to the police, enforcement teams will carry out routine checks across the country, with defaulters facing possible vehicle impoundment and legal prosecution.

Motorists are advised to apply for or revalidate their permits through the official police portal, www.possap.gov.ng, to avoid sanctions.

Zone One Police spokesperson, CSP Bashir Muhammad, in a statement, urged members of the public to cooperate with officers during the exercise, stressing that the measure is aimed at strengthening public safety and national security.
