The Fiscal Discipline and Development Advocacy Centre (FIDAC) on Thursday warmly congratulates Kano State for emerging first in the recently released NECO Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results.
This remarkable achievement is not only a testament to the hard work and resilience of students, teachers, and parents but also a validation of the visionary reforms and commitments of the present administration under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
According to a statement from its Executive Director, Dr. Abdussalam Muhammad Kani, FIDAC, the outstanding performance of Kano students reflects the resilience of learners, dedication of teachers, and support of parents, reinforced by the government’s prioritization of education.
Kano State’s distinguished performance in the 2025 NECO SSCE results is deeply connected to the government’s unwavering dedication to education recovery and transformation.
Recall that at the Education Recovery Conference convened in Kano, Governor Yusuf declared education as the number one priority of the administration.
This commitment has since been backed with concrete actions, including the recent approval of N4.38 billion for the renovation and rehabilitation of seven schools destroyed by fire and the provision of free school uniforms to support learners.
Furthermore, the 2025 education sector budget, which allocated an unprecedented 31% to education, demonstrates that Kano State is not only making promises but also implementing bold steps to revitalize the sector.
The government’s consistency in releasing its Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) counterpart funds has further enabled Kano to access federal interventions for strengthening basic education delivery.
FIDAC recognizes that this success story is equally anchored on strategic investments in the employment of new teachers, continuous training and re-training of educators, prompt payment of salaries, and deliberate efforts to provide a conducive learning environment across schools in the state.
These efforts collectively created the right atmosphere for Kano students to excel nationally.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration has recorded notable milestones in education, including the rehabilitation of dilapidated schools, provision of instructional materials, and expansion of access to quality education for the less privileged.
These interventions have transformed the education landscape and positioned Kano as a trailblazer in national examinations.
FIDAC celebrates this achievement as an inspiration for other states to emulate Kano’s model of fiscal responsibility and education-centered governance.
This milestone further underscores that when education is prioritized, adequately funded, and well-managed, success becomes inevitable.
FIDAC is a non-governmental organization raising the standards of fiscal discipline and development in Nigeria by inspiring a community of active citizens to demand for fiscal transparency, accountability, institutional reforms, and efficient service delivery.
