Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has inaugurated the newly established Ministry of Mining and sworn in Garba Hassan Warrah as Commissioner, alongside Abdullahi Buhari Warrah as the pioneer Managing Director of the Kebbi State Mining Development Agency.
The swearing-in, conducted by Chief Judge Justice Umar Abubakar, was held in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.
Governor Idris charged the appointees to boost revenue generation from the mining sector, particularly in Ngaski Local Government Area, which hosts most of the state’s mining activities.
“No responsible government jokes with revenue. We cannot rely only on federation allocation. We want performance and results to meet the yearnings of our people,” the governor stressed, adding that his administration had invested heavily in securing mining sites in the state.
He expressed confidence that the new commissioner and managing director—both indigenes of Ngaski—would deliver on the mandate to transform Kebbi’s mining industry into a major revenue source.
