The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has refuted reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed and published a list of its state chairmen across the country.
The clarification comes in response to a statement titled “Coalition Update: INEC Confirms ADC State Chairmen Nationwide”, which has been widely circulated online.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC dismissed the report as false and misleading. He emphasized that INEC has not released or validated any such list, either officially or otherwise.
Abdullahi explained that, in line with the party’s constitution, the power to appoint and ratify state leadership rests solely with the ADC. He added that INEC only acknowledges lists properly submitted by political parties through established procedures.
“As of today, no such comprehensive list has been submitted to or confirmed by INEC,” Abdullahi stated. “The report in circulation is fake news, deliberately engineered to sow confusion within our ranks and misinform the public.”
He urged party members and stakeholders to remain calm, stressing that the ADC remains committed to discipline, internal democracy, and due process.
“The public is advised to disregard the fake list.
“Any authentic information about the party’s structure will be communicated exclusively through our verified channels,” the statement concluded.
