Kogi State Police Command has reinforced its commitment to justice delivery by deepening collaboration with the Kogi State Public Defender and Citizens’ Rights Commission (PDCRC).
In a strategic conference held with senior police officers, the Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, emphasized discipline, professionalism, and strict adherence to lawful conduct in the discharge of duties. He noted that effective policing requires synergy with institutions that safeguard citizens’ rights.
As part of the engagement, the Director General of PDCRC, Barr. Musa Onogo Idris delivered a sensitization lecture on the mandate of the commission and the provisions of the Kogi State Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law, 2022.
The lecture was designed to strengthen police-judiciary collaboration in protecting vulnerable groups and ensuring justice for survivors of violence.
CP Dantawaye commended the growing synergy between the command and PDCRC, urging officers to embrace deeper collaboration for a safer, violence-free society.
He directed area commanders, divisional police officers, and sectional heads to ensure that all personnel are familiar with the provisions and enforcement of the VAPP Law, describing it as critical to modern policing.
In a related development, the command engaged retired police officers in the state to reaffirm its commitment to their welfare.
Sixteen retired officers were presented with transport tokens in appreciation of their service and continued cooperation with the police.
The CP praised their conduct and assured them of the command’s sustained support.
The twin developments, enhanced collaboration with PDCRC and welfare support for retired officers, underscore the Kogi State Police Command’s resolve to uphold human rights, enforce laws against violence and abuse, and promote a just and equitable society.
