In preparation for the forthcoming bye-election for Ghari/Tsanyawa State Constituency and Bagwai/Shanono State Constituency, scheduled for Saturday, 16 August 2025, the Kano State Police Command has held a stakeholders’ meeting with political party leaders and candidates.
The meeting, held on Tuesday at the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Bompai Police Headquarters, sought to promote peace, security, and adherence to electoral laws before and during the polls.
A major highlight of the gathering was the signing of a Peace Accord by all participating parties, pledging to ensure a violence-free process throughout the elections.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, urged stakeholders to honour the accord and conduct campaigns within the confines of the law. He warned that acts of lawlessness or breaches of peace would be met with swift and decisive action.
He assured the public of robust security deployment to safeguard voters, electoral officials, and party representatives, urging political actors to work closely with security agencies for a smooth election.
Reaffirming the Command’s commitment to law and order, the Police encouraged citizens to report any security concerns via its emergency lines: 08032419754, 08123821575, and 09029292926.
