Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has handed over two vehicles each to the 21 Local Government Chairmen across the state, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to grassroots development.

The presentation ceremony took place at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre in Lokoja on Tuesday.

Speaking at the event, Governor Ododo emphasized the need for local governments to be well-equipped to fulfill their responsibilities.

“It is essential to be duly equipped to deliver on the mandate given to you by the people,” he said, urging the chairmen to manage the vehicles with integrity and accountability.

He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support to all three tiers of government, noting that such backing has enabled effective governance at the state and local levels.

The Governor also acknowledged the contributions of his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, for laying a strong developmental foundation in the state.

Calling for unity and collective progress, Governor Ododo stated, “Let’s work together as one united state.”

He praised the collaborative efforts of the current administration at the federal level, describing it as “a coalition for development and making Nigeria’s mineral resources work.”

Chairman of Kogi State ALGON and Executive Chairman of Yagba West Local Government, Hon. Tosin Olokun, lauded the Governor’s performance, saying it has inspired local council leaders to raise their game.

He pledged continued loyalty and thanked the Governor for fostering peace, unity, and development in the state.

Also speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. (Barr.) Salami Ozigi Dediat commended the Governor for his unwavering support for local governments and for enhancing their operational capacity.

Governor Ododo’s inclusive leadership style and visible impact at the grassroots have continued to earn him widespread support across the state, positioning him strongly ahead of the 2027 election
