Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has suspended his Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, Felix Osemwengie Isere, for allegedly engaging in unauthorised fundraising activities related to a forthcoming Oil and Gas Summit.

The suspension was announced in a statement on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Ikhilor.

According to the statement, the planned summit—originally scheduled to begin on August 7—has been suspended immediately due to the breach.

“All activities related to the proposed summit are hereby halted,” Ikhilor said. “Mr. Isere is directed to refund all monies collected from donors, and prospective donors are advised to cease all dealings with him.”

Governor Okpebholo’s administration emphasized its commitment to transparency and accountability in the conduct of government business.
