To strengthen maternal and child health services, Rano Local Government Area has kicked-off the distribution of free essential drugs and medical consumables to 10 primary healthcare centres across the area.

The initiative is expected to enhance health outcomes and restore community confidence in local healthcare delivery.

At the official launch, the Council Chairman, Malam Naziru Yau, reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to expanding access to quality healthcare, stressing the need for transparency and accountability in distributing the N10 million worth of supplies.

He urged health workers to prioritize under-five children and pregnant women in the distribution.

The medical supplies, provided through Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s support, include oral rehydration salts, anti-malaria, antibiotics, analgesics, and blood tonics.

Primary Healthcare Coordinator, Hon. Yau Musa Durum, described the intervention as a timely boost for community health.

Other officials, including Head of Essential Drugs, Umar Ado Ahmad, and Supervisory Councillor for Health, Yusuf Rano, praised the initiative for addressing key health needs during the rainy season.

The Council’s Director of Personnel Management, Ado Namadi, thanked the state government and council leadership, noting the supplies will significantly aid the treatment of childhood and maternal illnesses.
