An explosion occurred on Monday night at the Trans-Niger Pipeline in Bodo, located within the Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, significantly impacting the section.
The explosion affects the critical export pipeline which transports crude to the Bonny Terminal.
As of Tuesday morning the section of the pipeline affected by the explosion is currently ablaze, but the precise cause of the incident has not yet been established.
Authorities have yet to determine whether the incident resulted from human interference, especially amid recent threats by militant groups to attack oil installations in response to the Federal Government’s withholding of Rivers State’s allocation due to the ongoing political crisis.
