The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has revealed why he plotted and removed Uche Secondus as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking at a PDP event in Rivers State, the former Rivers Governor said Secondus opposed Siminalayi Fubara’s ambition to become governor in 2023.
According to Wike, Secondus wanted his cousin, Tele Ikuru, to get the position instead which was why I supported Secondus’ removal as PDP Chairman.
Wike criticized Secondus and former Rivers Governor Celestine Omehia for backing Fubara, accusing them of being insincere.
He also addressed ongoing tensions with Fubara, who was once his ally.
Wike accused Secondus and former Rivers Governor Celestine Omehia of hypocrisy, alleging they only began supporting Fubara after securing personal benefits.
He argued that they were the true enemies of the current governor, not him.
Wike said I heard Secondus say the other day in Bori that I awarded the Bori Internal Road as governor.
“I paid 50 percent and thinking that we have a governor that we all agreed to continue. Secondus was saying that his enemies; who are the enemies of the governor? Second that refused him to be governor!
“I kicked out Secondus as PDP National Chairman when he wanted to make his cousin, Tele Ikuru, to be governor. Today, he is saying now that we are enemies.
“He (Secondus) was the one who refused the man (Fubara) to be governor; he wanted his cousin to be governor.
He has now become the governor’s friend and we have now become the enemies. To God be the glory,” Wike said.
