The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has cautioned members of the State Executive Council against acts of disloyalty, internal rivalry, and the leaking of official government information, warning that such conduct will no longer be tolerated.
The warning was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Governor Yusuf issued the directive during the 38th Executive Council meeting, urging cabinet members to remain united and fully committed to the administration’s objectives for the state’s progress and development.
The governor explained that recent political developments, along with key stakeholders, informed his decision to align with the All Progressives Congress to accelerate development in Kano and strengthen collaboration with the Federal Government.
According to him, the political realignment has already led to changes in the state cabinet, with five commissioners tendering their resignations. He disclosed that four of the commissioners stepped down after declining to join the move to the APC.
The affected portfolios include the ministries of Humanitarian Affairs, Youth, Internal Security, and Special Duties.
Governor Yusuf said he had accepted the resignations and wished the former commissioners success in their future endeavours.
The governor also announced the removal of the state’s Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, and confirmed the appointment of Bilkisu Shehu Maimota as Acting Head of Service.
He charged the new acting Head of Service with promoting discipline, unity, and professionalism within the state civil service.
