The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ) has opened entries for the 21st edition of the Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting (WSAIR), calling on newsrooms to support efforts to publicise the award and encourage eligible journalists to participate.
The call for entries opened on Sunday, 4 October 2026, and will close at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, 24 October 2026.
The WSAIR recognises excellence in investigative journalism, particularly reports that expose corruption, uncover regulatory failures, promote accountability and highlight human rights issues in Nigeria.
As part of the publicity drive, WSCIJ has urged newsrooms to publish the award’s promotional banners, share the call on their social media channels and circulate the information among editorial teams.
It also encouraged media organizations to share the award criteria with their journalists and motivate eligible reporters, cartoonists and photojournalists to submit their work.
The award is open to professional journalists and teams of reporters, including full-time and freelance journalists, whose published work targets a Nigerian audience.
Eligible categories are Print, Online, Television, Radio, Photojournalism and Editorial Cartoon.
WSCIJ has made publicity materials, including banners in various sizes and the award criteria, available online to facilitate publication and social media sharing.
Interested media organizations and journalists can access the materials and further information through the WSCIJ publicity materials link.
The initiative seeks to promote investigative journalism that strengthens public accountability and advances the public interest in Nigeria.
