President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, as the Chairman of the National Ramadan Feeding Committee.
Explaining the appointment during a visit to the Emir at his palace in Gidan Nassarawa, the National Security Adviser and Deputy Chief of Staff to the President stated that the Emir was selected based on his merit, suitability, and leadership qualities.
In a statement signed by the Emir’s Director of Public Affairs, Abubakar Balarabe Kofar Naisa, the leader of the delegation clarified that the Ramadan Feeding Committee is not political but a Federal Government initiative aimed solely at serving the public.
He added that the committee’s responsibilities include distributing food items such as rice, millet, and cooking oil.
He explained that in previous years, the Ramadan feeding initiative was limited to hosting selected leaders for breakfast with the President.
However, President Bola Tinubu has now directed that the programme be expanded to include the distribution of food items across all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.
Other members of the committee include Permanent Secretaries, Directors, Senators, and members of the House of Representatives, all under the supervision of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The delegation, led by the National Security Adviser, expressed confidence in the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, and wished him success in his new role.
In his remarks, the Emir commended the Federal Government for expanding the feeding programme during the holy month of Ramadan.
Emir Bayero thanked God and expressed hope that the initiative would be sustainable and beneficial to the people.
He said he believes the appointed committee members will bring improvement and progress, ensuring that the intended beneficiaries fully benefit from the programme.
He also thanked the Federal Government for giving him the opportunity to serve the nation and assured that he would do everything possible to ensure the success of the assignment.
The Emir further pledged to provide necessary advice and contributions to guarantee the effective implementation of the committee’s work.
