The delegation of Nigeria’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title hopefuls, the Super Falcons, arrived in Casablanca, Morocco, on Wednesday night from Lisbon, Portugal, ahead of the tournament.
The team comprises 22 players and officials, with China-based forward Folashade Ijamilusi and USA-based star Asisat Oshoala already in Morocco’s economic hub.
Earlier in Lisbon, the nine-time African champions held Portugal to a goalless draw in a friendly at Estádio José Gomes. Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Shukurat Oladipo, and veteran forward Francisca Ordega delivered standout performances.
Nigeria will open their 13th WAFCON campaign against Tunisia on Sunday, 6th July, at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium, followed by group stage clashes with Botswana and Algeria.
The Super Falcons have reached at least the semi-finals in every edition of the tournament since its inception in 1998, winning the title nine times.
