Nigeria has slipped one place to 44th in the latest FIFA men’s world rankings.

The drop comes after a series of mixed results in recent international fixtures, including the World Cup qualifiers.

Nigeria had previously climbed to 43rd in the April ranking update but failed to maintain momentum in the latest calculation period.

Despite the setback, the Super Eagles remain firmly inside Africa’s top five, retaining 5th place on the continental rankings behind Morocco (12th), Senegal (18th), Egypt (34th), and Algeria (36th).

They remain ahead of key rivals Ghana and South Africa, who are ranked 76th and 56th respectively.

At the top of the global chart, Argentina continue to lead the standings, followed by Spain in second place and France in third.

The next opportunity for Nigeria to improve their ranking will come during the September international window, where they are expected to play the 2026 World Cup qualification rounds.
