The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has threatened to mobilise its members to down tools over the continuous delay in the payment of their February 2026 salaries.
President of SSANU, Comrade Mohammed Ibrahim, made the threat on Friday, in a statement made available to Saturday Independent in Abuja.
According to Ibrahim, most staff of federal universities celebrated Ramadan without their salaries, stressing that the situation has created significant financial strain for members and their immediate families.
He said beyond the personal hardship it imposes, the delay in salary payment is steadily eroding confidence in the system, lowering staff morale, and inevitably affecting productivity and overall institutional performance within our universities.
“The leadership of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) wishes to bring to the attention of the public the growing hardship being experienced by staff of federal universities across the country due to the delay in payment of their February 2026 salaries,” Ibrahim lamented.
