Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with stakeholders in the Kannywood film industry to enhance public enlightenment and promote awareness of government policies, programs, and development initiatives across the state.
The State Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, made this disclosure on Thursday while receiving members of the Kannywood Political Coalition who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
He noted that Kannywood, as one of the largest entertainment industries in Northern Nigeria, plays a critical role in shaping public opinion and mobilizing citizens.
Comrade Waiya said the government will partner with the industry players to use film, music, and drama as tools for sensitizing the public on health, education, security, and other developmental issues.
He tasked the members with exploring ways of expanding the profession, pledging that the government will be willing to give them every support to improve their operation and compete with their counterparts globally.
Comrade Waiya thanked the members for being active politicians who have a clear vision in choosing what is right, stressing that their decision to support Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for a second term due to his leadership qualities demonstrated their commitment and concern for the development of the state.
The Commissioner highlighted some of the key achievements of the administration of Governor Yusuf in the areas of health, education, infrastructure, security, potable water supply, and programs for youth and women empowerment across the 44 Local Government Areas of the State.
” I want to inform you that this administration is currently executing more than 1,550 projects across the State, out of which 700 projects have already been completed, while the remaining are at the process of completion” said Waiya.
He further assured the Coalition that the Ministry will work closely with them to ensure that government’s development strides are properly communicated to the people in local languages and in formats that resonate with the citizens.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Hamisu Lamido Iyan Tama, informed the Commissioner that they were at the ministry to declare their total support for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf ahead of the 2027 General Election.
He explained that the group is a movement of stakeholders from Kannywood industry established to support the activities of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf and ensure his victory for the second term re-election.
Iyan Tama said even though members of the coalition belong to different political parties and backgrounds, they decided to unite under a common umbrella to support the re-election of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
“As a coalition, we have a collective belief that Abba Kabir Yusuf deserves every opportunity to continue with the remarkable achievements we are today witnessing across the State.
“These achievements have inspired us to lead this delegation to demonstrate our appreciation and love for the administration’s development agenda, and to come out and declare our total support for the Governor,” he pointed out.
The members of the coalition have equally pledged their support and readiness to use their platforms to promote government policies and to mobilize support for the administration ahead of the future political engagements.
