Sokoto Vows to Enhance Welfare of IDPs With More Incentives

The Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu, has vowed to enhance the welfare of the internally displaced persons squatting at various points across the state.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Development, Hon. Garba Aliyu Maitumbi Kebbe disclosed this while speaking to newsmen in Sokoto.

He said already a request to that effect is before the table of the state governor seeking for approval to provide adequate care for their immediate needs.

Maitumbi further revealed that the state government since when it came on board has been up and doing in providing essential needs of IDPs around the state.

“We have been providing them with food, textile materials, and shelter in schools and other Government facilities”

In another Development, the Special Adviser also revealed that after barely a few months in office, his office was able to train over 100 youths on tailoring, adding that each one of them was granted a tailoring machine and twenty thousand Naira to start a small-scale enterprise.

He said the state government would continue to give skills acquisition utmost priority to make them more productive and self-reliant,  adding that doing that will resourceful members of their various Communities.

Maitumbi however urged Governor Ahmed Aliyu to commit more resources to Youths and women empowerment, saying that the two groups have played a vital role in the electioneering campaign that brought the present administration where it’s today.
