The Executive Chairman of Sokoto State Independent Electoral Commission (SOSIEC), Aliyu Suleiman, released the outcome of the Saturday LG election at a press briefing on Monday at the SOSIEC Secretariat in Sokoto.
He said the Commission has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the Saturday 21st September 2024 local government election held in the state.
“The commission has so far received complete results of all the 23 LGAs, and 244 political wards where the said election was conducted.
“The commission, therefore, wishes to announce that, the All Progressives Congress has won all the 23 chairmanship and 244 councilorship seats based on collated results of the concluded LG election held on Saturday.
The local government areas are Sokoto North, Sokoto South, Wammako, Kware, Bodinga, Wurno, Goronyo, Isa, Sabon Birni, Gwadabawa, Illela, Tureta, Dange/Shuni, Tangaza, Silame, Yabo, Shagari, Kebbe, Tambuwal, Gudu, Binji, Rabah and Gada local government.
“The APC won all the chairmanship and councillorship seats based on the results collated from the 23 local government areas where the elections were conducted,” Suleiman stated.
The major opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) did not participate in the election, alleging that SOSIEC officials would not do justice to the party.
The Commission after the formal declaration of election results on Monday also presented certificates of return to the winners of the concluded election at a brief ceremony held at the commission secretariat Sokoto western bypass.
He however commended the police and other security Agencies in the state for providing enabling security for the successful conduct of the election.
Suleiman commended electorates in the state for their sense of maturity, while urging losers in the election to brace up for the future, as according to him tomorrow will be another day.
