Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency is set to refund the excess fare to 2,483 pilgrims of the state who performed the 2022 Hajj exercise.
The Permanent Secretary of the Agency, Alhaji Shehu Muhammad Muhammad Dange disclosed this at a news conference held at its headquarters in Sokoto.
He said the refund is in three categories which include the excess fare from the National Hajj Commission, Transport between the holy sites in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and refunds for those who could not perform Hajj exercise due to reasons of illness, lack of Visa, or other unforeseen circumstances.
“We are making effort to reconcile with the Hajj registration officers in the council areas so as to commence immediate refunds to the beneficiaries.
He said 2,483 Pilgrims from the state perform the 2022 Hajj exercise with the exception of those who could not secure a Visa and those who could not for reasons of ill health.
According to him, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on its part has refunded the state all that’s due to Pilgrims from the state who performed the year 2022 Hajj exercise.
Dange further explained that expected from the Saudi kingdom include feeding, transportation, and any other Hajj rites that are supposed to be made to Pilgrims by Saudi authorities which they failed to officiate or performed as required in the agreement between NAHCON and Saudi officials.
He called on the 2022 Pilgrims from the state to exercise patience as all that’s due to them would be refunded in due course.
