Sokoto LGs Polls Peaceful, Hitch Free – Tambuwal

Governor Amimu Waziri Tambuwal has described the today’s local government in the state as peaceful and fundamental to sustainable democracy.

Tambuwal made the observation shortly after casting his vote in Tambuwal his home town and Headquarters of Tambuwal local government.

He emphasized that electorate should be allowed to express their reservation and support in local government elections.

The Governor further noted that, local government is the closest to the rural communities, State Independent Electoral Commissions (SIEC) should be supported to conduct free and credible local government elections.

“We all know that local council election is a foundation for our democracy hence local councils are closer to the electorates.

“So, there are no better places or better tier of Government if citizens are not allowed to express their choice and support in the local government elections.”

He stressed that his administration conducted local government elections in 2016, noting that the voting process is ongoing peacefully because people are becoming more educated in their civic responsibilities.

The Governor Tambuwal urged electorates   to accept whatever outcome of the election in good faith and work for the good of everybody.

Meanwhile, political bigwigs in the state have predicted that the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will win all the contestable seats even before the commencement of the elections.

According to them, there was no serious contestant against candidates of the PDP in any of the positions.
