Sokoto Governor Appoints SSG, Chief of Staff, Others

Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmad Aliyu has appointed Alhaji Bello Mohammed Sifawa as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Alhaji Aminu Dikko as Chief of Staff at Government House Sokoto.

This came after an alleged heated argument between the Godfather of Sokoto politics, Senàtor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko (Sarkin Yamma), and his political son, Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto on the two appointments.

According to speculations going the state, the Governor has the passion to appoint Alhaji Aminu Dikko for the SSG seat while his father and mentor, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko who was also the former Governor of the state favours Alhaji Bello Sifawa who was his former permanent secretaries and commissioner during his administration.

The appointments have now put dust on the speculations on who will be the SSG between the two notables.

With the current development, Sokoto’s south senatorial district has the lion’s share in the recent appointments with the seat of SSG, Chief of Staff, and Senior Special Assistant, Protocol, Alhaji Faruku Ahmad Shuni.

The Governor also appointed Alhaji Husaini Umar Gorau as his Personal Assistant.

Others are Bello Yahaya Wurno as Special Assistant for Inter-governmental and Multi-lateral Relations, Alhaji Faruku Labbo as Special Assistant, Domestic Affairs, and Barrister Gandhi Umar, as Senior Special Assistant, Administration.

The Press Secretary to the Governor, Malam  Abubakar Bawa while addressing newsmen on the new appointees said  all the appointments are with  immediate effect
