In the sequel to continue attacks by bandits and kidnappers in the Kebbe local government area of Sokoto state, the National Assembly Member representing the area, Honourable Bala Kokani Kebbe has sought the intervention of the Air force and Army to push out criminal gangs away.
Honourable Kokani who represents Tambuwal/ Kebbe Federal constituency said his constituency has suffered so much in the hands of bandits who daily attacked and Kidnapped people at gunpoint.
He said he was doing everything possible in his capacity to see that Air force jets were sent to the area to neutralize the criminals from their hiding enclaves.
The legislature further disclosed that since when bandits commence wanton attacks in the area, he had not relented in his quest to see that normalcy returned to the area at all cost.
According to him, communities worst affected by the continued bandit attacks in his constituency are Ungushi, Sabla, Sabon Birnin, Sabon Garin Arawa, Maidanda, Gidan bele, Mai Agumi, and Gidan Kina all in Kebbe local government area.
He said at the height of the attacks, though he was in Saudi Arabia, immediately sent donations of assorted foodstuffs and medicaments to various internally displaced camps spread across the local government areas.
“I will do whatever necessary to ensure that peace return to my constituency; I will never let my people down at this moment of grief and sadness even if it amounts to losing all my resources,” Kokani elaborated.
“The Five million naira I am donating to the Victims is nothing when compared to the sufferings and loss of lives recorded daily in the affected communities, I will also reach out to well-meaning associations, individuals, and groups to secure assistance for the victims including NEMA,” Kokani said.
He warned of imminent famine in the affected communities as most of them are agrarian enclaves and bandits are refusing farmers access to their farmlands to harvest their crops, which if not promptly tackled by security agencies would lead to rural-urban migration.
Kokani counseled victims of the attacks to organize themselves and intensify prayers for God’s intervention to free them from the shackles of criminal gangs.
He called on the Army, the Air force, the Police, and other security agencies to come to the aid of the affected Communities with a view to free them from the hands of criminal gangs who are making them refugees daily.
