SAI Partner Universities, Students on Climate Change Research

In an effort to tackle Global warming and other environmental degradation challenges, the Sustainable African Initiative has entered Partnership with Universities to engage students in Climate Risk Research in Northern Nigeria.

This was contained in a statement signed by Abubakar Shuaibu, a founder and Chief Executive Officer of Green Energy Mission Africa and Lead consortium member of the Sustainable Africa Initiative.

The statement explained that Bayero University Kano and Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology are among the universities engaged in Northwest Nigeria for conducting the research.

It also stated that, under the agreement, some selected students will be given training and tools to go back to their respective communities and research climate change’s impact on agricultural development in the area.

“The project is aimed at building the student’s capacity to be part of the vanguard for fighting against global warming and other environmental degradation threatening human life and the entire ecosystem.

“The research is expected to help in finding out the major environmental challenges in every community and also share the research findings with the community to enable them to understand the risk and also join their hands in tackling the problem,” the statement revealed

However, according to the statement, engaging the young generation in Climate Change Risk Research and sharing the findings with the immediate community will help in providing sustainable solutions to the problem.

The project is financed by other donor partners including; Climate Risk Research Foundation, Sustainable Solutions for Green Growth, the Linux Foundation’s OS-Climate, AWS, Generation Humanity, London Stock Exchange, Open Earth Foundation, and Green Energy Mission Africa. The participating students in the research competition will be given grants and prizes at the end of the program.

SIA also reiterated its commitment to partner with all interested individuals, organizations, governments, and the public in combating the menace of climate change on Agriculture, human life, and the general ecosystem.
