Ronaldo Wins Legal Dispute Against Juventus Over €20m In Frozen Wages

After a legal battle, Juventus is reportedly going to have to pay former player Cristiano Ronaldo over €20 million (£17 million/$21 million) in unpaid wages.
Due to unpaid earnings from the COVID-19 epidemic, the Portuguese international sued the Serie A team last year. Juventus struggled financially during that time; therefore, the players decided to postpone their salaries by four months in March 2020 and April 2021. However, individual team members also reached arrangements. Ronaldo sought £17.15 million ($21.3 million) in postponed earnings, or “salary manipulations,” and La Gazzetta dello Sport now claims the 39-year-old has prevailed over the Italian company in that dispute.

According to the article, Juventus never allocated funds for this purpose, and it is unclear if other players will follow Ronaldo’s example. If they do, that would be a major financial setback for the Old Lady. The Turin team and Roma forward Paulo Dybala came to an arrangement in 2023 over the same issue, with the Argentine getting about £2.6 million ($3.2 million) in unpaid wages.
After moving from Real Madrid to Juventus in 2018, Ronaldo scored 101 goals in 134 games across all competitions. Ronaldo is currently playing for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League following a difficult second stint at Manchester United.

Juventus will have to accept this legal setback, but on Friday, Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr team plays Al Feiha in the Saudi Premier League. On April 27, they travel to Al-Khaleej.
