News Desk

Troops from the 22 Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army intercepted an ash-colored Mazda Saloon car with the registration number LNR 465 AL, as well as a wine-colored Premacy car with the registration number RA 264 AA.

Carrying a total of 139 bags of smuggled foreign rice along the Shao-Jebba Expressway in Moro Local Government Area, Kwara State.

Lieutenant Stephen Nwankwo, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 22 Armoured Brigade, explained that during initial investigations, the drivers were heading towards an undisclosed destination when they were stopped by vigilant troops at a checkpoint set up to curb the activities of criminal elements.

Major General Oluwafemi Williams, the Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, subsequently handed over the vehicles and their contents to Faith Mathew Ojeifo, the Comptroller of the Nigerian Customs Service, Kwara Area Command, for further action.

The statement noted that the Commander’s actions reflect the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede’s Command Philosophy.

Which focuses on “consolidating the transformation of the Nigerian Army into a well-motivated and combat-ready force capable of effectively executing its constitutional responsibilities in a joint and multi-agency setting.”

Ojeifo, upon receiving the smuggled goods, expressed his gratitude to the Army for the collaboration between the Brigade and his command.

He emphasized that this partnership has led to significant operational success in the state and its surrounding areas.
