A former Academic Secretary of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and retired judge, Dr Aliyu Umar Misau, has constructed and donated a central mosque to Tirwun community, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis.
Speaking during a brief ceremony to commission the mosque, Misau said the gesture was in fulfilment of his life ambition, which is to give a sadaqatul jariyah (continuous charity).
The event was attended by the Minister of Health, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, traditional rulers, politicians and members of the Tirwun community.
Misau said, “As a Muslim who believes and devotes much of my time reading the Holy Qur’an and upholding the tradition of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), there is no deserving thing for an individual better than doing what will benefit you here in this world and in the hereafter.
“I believe what would benefit me after death is to give out continuous charity (sadaqatu jariyah).”
The octogenarian further said, “My ambition is to offer something that would benefit humanity, hoping that such modest contributions would attract divine rewards from Allah and be beneficial to us in the hereafter.
“I don’t want to disclose how much I spent on the construction of the mosque because it is a sadaqah (charity) but what I only want is reward from Allah.”
