The Executive Director of Women Rights Initiative (WORI) Dr. Laiatu Bamaiyi has reminded Kebbi State Governor to redeem his promise by appointing women and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in his Administration.

The reminder was contained in an Eid-el-Kabir message to Nigerians and the new Administration of Dr. Nasir Idris in Kebbi State on Wednesday.

“Dr. Idris promised to feature women, PWDs, and youths “prominently” in his Administration.

“It is a welcome development and an encouragement to Kebbi State women to work with him.

“As women, we have faith in Governor Dr. Idiris’ Administration because it holds better days for people in the state and women in particular.

“It was against this background that calls for the need to pray to God to keep the new Government in focus and “nothing should disarray the Governor and his team from attaining their vision.”

Bamayi said that a World Bank report states that “women make up 49 percent of Nigeria’s population, but have mainly remained underrepresented in the political space throughout the country’s history.”

“If more women are allowed to serve in various Government positions, they will bring hope back to the masses and society will benefit.

“There cannot be any meaningful development without an all-inclusive Government of women, youths, and persons with disabilities.”

On Eid-El-Kabir celebration, every true Muslim, especially women, should be grateful to God for the privilege to celebrate the 2023 Eid al-Adha irrespective of the economic challenges and urged the people to use the occasion to pray for the country, she added.
