As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, the Kano State Social Protection Agency (KASPA) has urged wealthy individuals, corporate organizations, and non-governmental bodies to extend support to over 1.7 million vulnerable people captured in its database.
Rabiu Khalil Kura, Director of Public Enlightenment at KASPA, stated on Monday that the appeal was delivered by the agency’s Director-General, Dr. Fateema Abubakar Abdullahi (Amneef), during a management meeting at the headquarters.
Dr. Fateema noted that for many families across Kano State, Ramadan brings significant challenges, as poverty and rising costs make it difficult to meet basic needs such as food and healthcare.
She emphasized the urgent need for collective compassion and shared responsibility to ease the suffering of the poor during this sacred period, traditionally marked by kindness and care for others.
Commending Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his dedication to social welfare, Dr. Fateema highlighted the state’s Ramadan feeding program as a vital source of relief for thousands of struggling households.
She also drew attention to KASPA’s ongoing free healthcare initiative through the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KACHMA), which currently provides medical support to over 20,000 orphans and senior citizens who would otherwise be unable to access essential healthcare services.
According to the Director-General, supporting vulnerable communities during Ramadan is not only an act of charity but also a moral duty to uphold human dignity.
She invited well-meaning individuals and organizations willing to contribute to KASPA’s programs to contact the agency for engagement.
Dr. Fateema reaffirmed KASPA’s commitment to strengthening social protection systems, ensuring that no vulnerable citizen is forgotten, especially during critical times like Ramadan.
